Long story short, after trying a bunch of BS and reinstalling too many times to count, unable to create a user account or login, I reinstalled one more time and grabbed an old Time Machine backup of a 16" MBP. I'm so comfy with Intel MBP's, I really thought this would be a cake walk. This was a nightmare, as I'm a PC home, with M1 MBP. This allows your Mac to run old versions of macOS. If your Mac refuses to boot after installation, boot to Recovery Mode, open Startup Security Utility, and choose Reduced Security. Open Disk Utility and erase the Macintosh HD volume group (or make a new APFS volume if you wish to preserve the beta). You should now return to the Recovery menu. If prompted, authenticate with admin credentials. Select the bootable installer and click Continue. Keep holding until it starts to load Startup Options. Shut down your Mac, then press and hold the power button as you power it on. When done, the macOS installer might open (or fail since its older than the running macOS).Ĭonnect a 16 GB flash drive, and create a bootable installer (use the Big Sur command): Wait for Software Update to finish downloading the full macOS 11.0.1 installer. Open Terminal and run this command: softwareupdate -fetch-full-installer -full-installer-version 11.0.1 Doing this ensures that at you’re downloading the production release of 11.0.1, and not a beta. Open Software Update preferences, and delete the beta profile.You’ll need to create a bootable installer for 11.0.1. Internet Recovery is dead on Apple Silicon.
